Here come the Monsoons

// July 6th, 2007 // Uncategorized

There are only two redeeming things about Phoenix these days for this native.

The first would be the winters here with the cool temps and beautiful nights.

The second is most definitely NOT the summer months, but the Monsoons that come with it to help ease our pain. It’s July 6th and today brought some dust, some rain and some brief thunder claps.

I live for this. And let’s hope we’re off to a good season of storming glory. Late afternoon wind, rain and cool breezes are all that keeps me sane.

But the Monsoon is having a harder time making the daily Phoenix invasion. The city and surrounding suburbs have gotten so big, the heat from the city acts like a heat shield against moving weather systems. So as time goes on, and the city grows, the Monsoons become less and less dependable.

Yet my hope still never fails. Every afternoon, you’ll see me watching some radar site, hoping for some nasty red splotches headed my way.
