Prison Break: Good or Old?
// September 20th, 2007 // fun
*potential spoiler alert*
Prison Break was the first real network show to premier this fall, so of course it was exciting. It’s been awhile since we’ve seen Michael Scofield and his brother Lincoln running from the law. What happened to Sara Tancredi? Where did T-bag end up?
(By the way, Sara will be back in a few episodes – her real life pregnancy kept her off the set early in the filming)
Well, I have to say…after watching the first episode, I was left a bit bored by it. I mean, it’s not like Prison Break was awesome or anything. It’s always been one of those shows you watch because it’s fun. The first season was great and often left you at the edge of your seat. The second season they escaped and we wondered what was next, how they could keep the show going? That actually proved interesting, despite the amazing way they eluded the law.
But then again, you really have to suspend belief to watch Prison Break
So what about the start to Season 3? Obviously, the name ‘Prison Break’ will once more apply. Michael is stuck in Sona and apparently needs to get someone else out before he can be transferred to a less “Lord of the Flies” prison. Sara and Lincoln’s son are both being held captive until Michael busts out.
Was it exciting? Was it catchy? Not really. To me, it just made me roll my eyes and think “We have to watch dragged out episodes of an escape from a prison…AGAIN?”
Now don’t get me totally wrong. I plan to keep watching, mainly because I’ve put two years into this show and would like to see where it leads. But with so many new shows that could be good (like Chuck, or Bionic Woman), it could be one that is on the fritz if it doesn’t get better.
What did you guys think? The same ol’ awesome Prison Break, or was it a bit more boring?

I have to admit after the finale last season I was more than a bit skeptical of where this show was going. However, after watching the first episode I’m on board again (at least for a few more episodes).
What I think is most intriguing about PB is the characters. In two years we’ve gotten to know Micheal, Lincoln, Sarah and LJ and I like them. I find myself rooting for Micheal and Sarah to get together and ride off into the Panamanian sunset. I’d like to see Lincoln and his son get together and have a life. I hope T-bad gets everything he has coming to him ( I have to say that although I can’t stand his character, I’m impressed by the actor playing him) and I’m curious to see what happens to the rest of them.
It’s not the best show on TV, but it’s completely different from anything else on TV. So continue to count me in. Besides what else am I going to watch…Dancing with the stars? Ugh!
Well, Monday’s are going to be ripe with new shows coming up, so there’s ALWAYS SOMETHING better than Dancing with the Stars
Secondly, if any show could use a conclusion, it’s Prison Break. I agree with what you said…would just be nice to see it end maybe this year.
Yeah, I think it needs to end this season unless they can really come up with a plot twist to keep it going. Best case tho would be maybe one more season.
I’m going to pretend that the “Dancing with the Stars” comment wasn’t directed at me. Seriously, I’d rather watch wanna be celebrities make fools of themselves, or not, than a bunch of guys trying to escape and never quite managing to.
It’s not that they don’t escape, it’s that they keep ending up back in. Hence the name.
