The Office tonight and Bionic thoughts
// September 27th, 2007 // fun
It’s finally here. The season four premier of The Office.
What happened to Jim and Pam? Is Jan nuttier than before? How funny will Ryan be in a bigger role? When will the office know about Angela and Dwight?
After all the shows that have started this week, really none of them got me excited as much as The Office tonight. It’s like an old friend coming back home. I missed you, Office.
On a side note, CSI, Grey’s Anatomy, Smallville and some others start tonight as well. Gonna be a good one. And I got my OTA antenna all set-up correctly for the bedroom Tivo, the new HD channels programmed into my favorites, so we’re all set!
Bionic Woman
So who watched it? What did you think? I know what Jina thought since she went to bed with 37 minutes left in the show.
There were two things that really bugged me about it. One, she’s running through the woods insanely fast, and with not-very-great special effects I might add, and a little girl sees her. Shocker. That’s never happened before in a superhero movie. Why not just use the Superman scene and put Bionic Woman’s head on whoever played a young Clark Kent?
The second thing was how she tested her ability. On a rooftop. She looked over, got a running start, and then made the leap to the next one and barely made it. Didn’t Spiderman do that? Couldn’t think of anything original?
Aside from that, and some other cheesy-ness, it was okay. I am not sure about the main lead, she’s kind of more “manly” than other female action stars, like Dark Angel or Sidney Bristow, but we’ll see. The best part was Starbuck showing up from Battlestar Galactica and I wonder how long she’ll be on since BSG starts in February. There was another BSG cameo as well, since the executive producer is also on BSG. I’m surprised no one else from that show was on!
I’ll give it another shot. Could be something interesting there.
Didn’t get a chance to watch anything else, except *cough* Gossip Girl *cough*…so will report later on Dirty Sexy Money!

First of all, the countdown to the Office is officially over (in a few short hours). Thank God. Please be as good as always!
Secondly, in the 23 minutes that I did watch Bionic Woman, I was insanely amused by the subpar acting of the lead, who (and Mike disputes this) is a total rip-off of Jennifer Garner on Alias. But I knew I had to go to bed because I couldn’t bear hurting my Mikey’s feelings every time I inevitably giggled at his BSG spin-off show.
Love you babe!
Well, I’m having difficulty with Smallville being ‘a sidenote”
Bionic Woman had a ton of hype. And I would say it did not live up to it. The supposed bad guys are more interesting than the good guy (er, woman). Michelle Ryan, didnt convince me in her role. For mainstream TV, the effects were a bit cheesy as well (running scenes, heck Smallville does a great job of displaying speed, and I imagine at a lesser budget than NBC, but it’s a ’side note’ so its ok). I will give it another chance, but so far through the week of new shows and even returning ones, Journeyman I thought was the best so far.
Totally agree Cap’n…Smallville’s effects are much better, and you’d think for a pilot, Bionic would have spent a bit more money on that stuff.
The lead was kind of blah, agreed. I still don’t think she’s a Jennifer Garner rip-off, or else she’d be much better looking
Smallville isn’t a sidenote, but it just doesn’t compare to The Office for me. But I am excited about it for sure…I think the preview I saw last night got me a bit pumped to see it. I’m still worried about Supergirl though.
And Jina…you’re so mean
The whole week comes down to tonight. We’ve seen some good shows and some less than stellar offerings…more on that later.
More than any other I’m totally excited for the hour long (and 3 more to follow) episode the office. It’s like getting an extra scoop of ice cream for free. And as Mike points out it’s like our old friend office is coming home…welcome back office, we missed you…thank God we had your home movies to keep us company while you were gone.
I’m also looking forward to CSI and finding out what happens to Sarah, etc. If office is our old friend returning. CSI is our favorite uncle we haven’t seen in a while.
As for Bionic..zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…oh sorry must have nodded off….Woman. Sooooooo disappointed! I really wanted to like this show. It looked great with the whole darker edgier feel than the original (but then Teletubbies is darker than the original), but it has definitely gotten off to a slow start. I like the other cast members, but Jaime just isn’t very good. I’m willing to give it another week, but in a season of overcrowded DVR’s, it had better get good quick.
Jury is still out on Bionic. I intend to watch another week.
