“So?” - Ben on Lost

M. Night Shyamalan: “The Happening”

The poster for M. Night Shyamalan’s new movie, “The Happening” hit the internet Friday afternoon and it’s one heck of a eye-catcher.

The taglines on it read:

“We’ve sensed it, We’ve seen the signs, Now…it’s Happening.”

Obvious to any M. Night fan as references to his big two, The Sixth Sense and Signs. Check out the poster:

The Happening

The plot for the movie reads as follows:

A paranoid thriller about a family on the run from a natural crisis that presents a large-scale threat to humanity.

Awesome. Sounds like my kind of movie. It’s also going to star Mark Wahlberg, Zooey Deschanel and John Leguizamo.

So I love the idea of incorporating older movies into a poster for the next chapter in M. Night’s career. If anyone can do this kind of thing, it’s him.

An interesting tidbit however, that the Movie Poster Addict discovered today. Check out the poster for “Signs” below…look at the tagline under Mel Gibson’s name…what does it say?

“It’s happening.”

Spooky.

And I already can’t wait to see it, yet my patience will have to hold until June of 2008.

Hey Mike - what is your favorite Shyamalan movie?

I liked The Village a lot, but it is tough for me to pick just one.

  3. Lady in the Water, while maybe not his best, was definitely not a bad or terrible movie. It was an enjoyable fairy tale.

  4. I was disappointed in Lady in the Water, but mostly because I was expecting a big twist or something. But it was a decent film.

I really like The Sixth Sense of course, that was the best one to me because of the ending. Never been that shocked in a movie before.

But I also really like Unbreakable…I think many, including myself, tend to forgot that one when they think of M. Night.

  5. Every time I read that tagline I get an image of Michael Scott with a lampshade on his head yelling “It’s happening!!”

  6. @Adrian - ror - hilarious!
