“So?” - Ben on Lost

Look for big cameos in new Star Trek movie

TrekMovie.com has an interesting story posted about how the newest Star Trek feature film, this one directed by J.J. Abrams, could include some great cameo appearances.

Knowing Abrams, this is right up his alley. The blog points out sadly that Greg Grunberg will NOT be in as a cameo, but he speculated that we should be ready for other, possibly big named showings:

You will see some of the actors that J.J. likes to work with in the movie. I’m not talking about me in particular, but you will see some great cameos. You’ll never know who the people are, but they are all fans of the [Star Trek] shows, fans of the movies, and called up J.J. asking to be in the movie. They were monster celebrities from all over, and he’s put them all in disguises and put them into his movie.

Grunberg has been in a ton of Abrams’ stuff, first appearing in Felicity, then Alias and has made cameos in other things, Lost being the biggest. The blog alerts us that Tom Hanks is a huge Trek fan, while other Abrams alumni Jennifer Garner and Kevin Weismann (Marshall rocks!) have also expressed an interest in appearing in the movie.

I’m pretty bummed Grunberg isn’t appearing, he’s one of my favorites.

The one big Trek cameo I remember the most is Christian Slater waking up Captain Sulu in The Undiscovered Country.

We’ve still got a long time to wait for this movie (Christmas 2008), but with J.J. Abrams at the helm and all this buzz starting to hit the web, I’m getting excited.
