New Jeep

The baby is coming in December, and with Jina potentially staying home for a few years to raise the little tyke, the less bills we have going out each month, the better.

And the truck (below) was one heck of a bill!

I loved my truck, it was named Jill and was very good to me. I’d driven her about 32,000 miles so far in two years and not once did she let me down. Always up for passing a slower vehicle, the best at honking the horn at annoying drivers and her BRIGHTS were always at the rear view mirror-level of the moron in front of me.

I got her dirty a few times, usually with clippings and trash from yard work, but it didn’t bother her at all. She was just like that. I know if she could talk, and was a little smaller, she’d want to come on inside and watch the Suns with me.

She was that kind of girl. And I’m going to miss her.

But when push comes to shove, I’d rather my little one have his momma around more often than my truck, so it was time to cut it loose.

So it got traded in, paid off and I bought this sweet Jeep for less than half of what I owed on the truck. In fact, if all goes to plan, it should be paid off before the baby comes, which is exactly what I wanted.

I’m liking the Jeep so far, but it needs a name. Any suggestions are welcome, but it has to be good.

Nice jeep! My neighbors had one just like it, it was always muddy and nasty because they did a lot of off roading. I’m sure it will serve you well.

Definitely a nice jeep, the MPG kind of sucks right now, but we’ll get over it :)

Needs a few odds and ends, but I think it will do nicely.

  3. That is one sweet ride! I used to have a white TJ much like that one until my now ex-husband made me sell it. Gee I wonder why we ended up divorced. :)

Very nice Mikey, I can see you and little Eli cruising with the top down. :-)

The Jeep looks like a ‘Madge’ to me. Big and tough, but with a soft spot for those close to her and fiercely loyal.

Hope you and Madge will be happy for many years to come.

    Radar.

For Cpl Radar O’Reilly who always knew when his CO needed a ride.

(CommentLuv picked up an awfully old post for me. Don’t know why.)

I don’t think I’ve ever heard the name “Madge” before, lol.

    Radar is interesting :)

You could name her “Amanda” for Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls.

Then just play “The Jeep Song” on endless repeat.

I wish I knew what the Dresden Dolls were so I could decide yes or no :)

Here’s a link to “The Jeep Song” (forgive the idiotic picture, but all the other videos had terrible audio.)

The Dresden Dolls are a duo out of Boston who describe themselves as “Brechtian punk cabaret”. Honestly, that’s as accurate a description as I can imagine. Their two moderate hits (on the alternative scene) have been “The Jeep Song” and “Coin-operated Boy”.

    And they are *awesome* live.

How about naming the jeep the obvious “RED” or “BUTCH”. Most people named butch are redheads.

  13. Mike says:

Interesting Gramma…Red is good, but obvious…not sure I can go with Butch though :)

Although money may be a problem, the truck should’ve been kept. The Jeep wouldn’t be suitable if you need to bring the baby along. There would be way too many bumps and noise in the Jeep than it would be with the truck..

That sucks, I was planning on taking the kid off-roading on his/her one month birthday….

Anyways, we have a station wagon for the kid…should be enough.
