“When fate hands you a lemon, make lemonade”
// June 3rd, 2008 // fun
I’m going to disagree with that quote above just for now I think.
Because little Elyla is the size of a lemon today, and while lemonade is truly delicious, I really can’t see me doing anything with that yellow fruit besides writing about it.
And honestly, a little baby the size of a lemon is NOT a bad thing.
The weird part is…last week Elyla was the size of a peach, and if you had asked me the question “Which is bigger? A peach or a lemon?” I’d have answered “peach.”
But apparently, a lemon is bigger in the pregnancy growth chart, so we’ll go with that.
Now, I am not a huge fan of lemons really. I mean, I can’t remember the last time we had one in the house other than to cut it up, and drop it down the running garbage disposal to make it smell all fresh and nice.
However, there is one lemon I am a huge fan of, and that of course is Liz Lemon.
If you never watch 30 Rock, then you have no idea what I’m talking about, but Liz Lemon is on it and played by the
amazing Tina Fey. She created the show, she writes the show and she’s a friggin’ riot. In fact, it’s my #1 ranked comedy on TV right now.
Take that Office!
So our handy dandy baby guide also tells us that our kid is starting to suck his thumb this week, which is pretty great. If it’s a boy, I’m sure he’s already learning his daddy’s bad habit of chewing on his fingernails.
He’s also wiggling his toes, breathing amniotic fluid, growing some thin, downy hair over his body to stay warm…and oh yeah, starting to make urine.
I’m really not sure how I’d feel about carrying a kid around inside me who is using my uterus as its own swimming pool.
Jina is doing okay, but had a major headache that lasted almost all weekend. We started looking stuff up on the internet on Saturday on how to find relief and ended up trying some Peppermint Oil that you inhale, which is supposed to help out a bit. It did…somewhat.
But some water-soaked, microwaved towels on the face were the ticket. We gave that a shot late Saturday evening and it seemed to work.
We visited our new OB last Thursday and we really liked the place. They are also moving in two months WAY closer and right next to the hospital we want to give birth at, so that’s a big plus.
We’re at Week 14 now and should find out the sex at our appointment during Week 21. I’m starting to get REALLY excited for that day and impatient. It’s high time we get the verdict on Eli or Lyla.

good thing it’s my uterus (that’s the swimming pool) and not yours.
i was thinking the last time we had a lemon was for the disposal too… then you wrote that. everyone is going to know how non-kitchen-oriented i am.
Those chart people need to go to Palisade Colorado, they can grow a peach there and it would get them to restructure this chart the right way.
