It’s 25 weeks today, Lyla is getting restless
// August 19th, 2008 // family
Lyla has been moving around like crazy this past week. In fact, after only feeling her kick once or twice before, Friday was a symphony of movement.
Jina came home from work, took her usual spot laying on the couch and said that she actually saw Lyla kick through her clothes.
So I rested my head on her belly and boom, boom, boom, I felt three little kicks into my cheek and it was the greatest thing ever.
And it was a good idea that she left us with sweet memories that night, because the next morning was The Baby Registration.
I am only SLIGHTLY exaggerating when I say I would almost rather go through another 6 months of infertility than have to spend 5 hours between Target and Baby’s R Us looking at crap I know nothing about.
Okay, it wasn’t that bad, but it was pretty rough. When you go register for a wedding, that’s soooo different. But for a baby, and it being your first one, it’s hard to know exactly what you need. I still don’t think we got enough socks!
Funny thing was, I found myself looking more at cute little pink dresses while Jina was the one leaning towards more neutral colors. Weird.
But I think we picked out some good stuff including a Jeep stroller that is just too freaking cool and a video baby monitor.
We also picked up our crib and will be setting that up once the baby’s room is cleared out. We’re close on that, but still have some work to do.
Also good to note, the room is actually going to be PINK, in some form or the other. With brown accents like the crib, and the window shade, plus other stuff we have planned. I think it’s going to look pretty awesome.
Today we go in for another ultrasound, so hopefully we’ll have cool pictures to show you guys later this week.
Lyla is the size of a friggin’ EGGPLANT this week and I’m sort of choosing to ignore that fact. Eggplants are gross and purple (which is a cool color if you are a basketball team, but not a baby), and Lyla deserves better.
Instead, I’m going to override this week’s selection and tell you that she’s now the size of a Miniature Tennessee Vols Football –>
And why not? September is right around the corner, it’s approaching fall (at least in some parts of the country) and that means NFL FOOTBALL BABY!
That’s it for now, we’ll have more later this week!

NFL FOOTBALL “BABY!”
What does NFL football have to do with a Tennessee Vols mini-football? Mike, we are going to have to brush up on your college vs. pro-football knowledge prior to Lyla getting here. I don't want her sports lessons to be shotty.
I couldn't find a Cardinals football anywhere, nor an ASU…so I just grabbed a team I like
I am so glad you shared this blog with me. I love reading your thoughts and ideas about becoming parents. You both make me laugh! Maybe Taylor can help out with the NFL football lessons if Mike's abilities are mediocre.
