Christmas break adventures

// December 29th, 2008 // family

Having some fun! Yikes, it’s been over a week since I last posted a blog. That should probably tell you how crazy things have been around the Olbinski household. I’ve been off work since December 24th and it seems like the days have been filled with nothing but family, errands and taking care of Lyla.

My dad came in town on the 19th and hung out with us that Saturday and Sunday, where he met his granddaughter for the very first time. We got some great pictures of them together, which you can see over here.

On Christmas Eve it was a tour de force. We had church at 2:30pm and then it was off to Sun City for my dad’s side of the family. Seeing everyone was awesome. They were all excited to meet Lyla, who, on a side note, is the first “Olbinski” to be born in around 32 years.

That’s quite a feat.

So it was a late night for sure and Lyla got pretty fussy towards the end of the evening. We think being passed around amongst so many people probably just caused her to be a little ornery.

On Christmas Day we spent a big chunk of time at my mom’s, where my Oma (grandma in German) got to see her great-granddaughter for the first time. We got some good pictures and it was a perfectly wonderful time just hanging out.

The rest of the last week has just been us running around. Lyla has been in her car seat probably more in the last seven days than her entire 5 1/2 weeks of existence. Which isn’t saying a whole lot right?

Jina and Lyla also came to work on the 23rd, to have lunch with me and show off the new addition to our family. It was fun, the people who really wanted to meet Lyla were excited to see her and then she pooped and we changed her on my desk.

Good stuff.

Today (Monday) I took her out to Home Depot to look for a Weather Station that I thought would be there, but wasn’t. She was asleep the entire trip, which was actually TWO Home Depots and one Radio Shack.  We also spent the morning together as Jina went out for coffee with Josie, in town from Austin, Texas.

Some pictures from the week that are my favorites:

Lyla's Christmas Eve dress and bow (Jina made it)

Wondering who this four-eyed geek is and how did he become my daddy?
