Meals aplenty
// December 6th, 2008 // family
We’ve seen such generosity, friendship and support since Lyla was born that it’s almost something you might take for granted even after a few weeks. That’s the reason I’m writing this blog (plus you all know I like to talk about myself), because I want to make sure I point out all these people and remember it for myself.
I found out today that a good friend of ours from church, Tom Fullmer, sent out an email to a bunch of people asking if anyone wanted to help bring us some meals during the first week or two, just because he knew how hard it was on new parents to have time to go shopping or even cook.
I’ve golfed with Tom once, but other than that, we’ve never done a whole lot other than banter at each other on Facebook, Pop Critics and this blog. But it shows what a good guy he is, despite is “tough” exterior, that he went out of this way to do this.
Thank you Tom!
Now, on to the delicious meals!
Aunt Marilyn brought us dinner on Monday, which included a side of sliced honey-baked ham, cheesy potatoes and hawaiian sweet rolls. We had her potatoes back a few months ago and I absolutely loved them, so I was thrilled she made us a whole dish entirely for our consumption!
On Tuesday, Tom’s wife Melanie brought us some great spicey chicken, along with rice, a salad and a seriously awesome apple pie from Fresh & Easy that I’m still partaking of every evening.
Wednesday, Jessica Hoyt visited this pita restaurant we’ve never been to and brought us a great little meal of rice, pitas and a great salad. Really loved the salad!
Scott and Deb Williamson have been friends with us for a long time and thus know our love for Pei Wei. Hence on Thursday night, Jina enjoyed some Teriyaki Chicken while I devoured some Kung Pao Chicken (no veggies of course, I’m soooooo unhealthy).
Our good friends Bill and Jennifer Pletka brought us this awesome chicken taco dinner on Friday night, which was enough for a couple of meals and we plan to enjoy more of it on Sunday during football!
And on Saturday morning, as Tyler and Sara came to help me work on my car, plus hang with Jina, they brought along some McDonald’s breakfast which is always good once in awhile.
Just so I don’t forget, we also want to thank Jina’s parents and her sister Jennifir, for cooking meals and going shopping for us the first week we had Lyla.
All of this has been such a blessing and a big help to us, we can’t thank you enough.
It’s also been something sort of hard for me to allow happen, because I tend to have a hard time accepting help and an even harder time asking for it. But people love to help each other, especially friends, and so I appreciate you guys doing it and am inspired to “pay it forward” so to speak.
Thank you all again!

Re-reading all the deliciousness we've had all week made me salivate all over again. Thanks everyone… we truly feel loved and cared for by each of you.
Always glad to help!!!
Thanks Sara
