The Dark Knight blows away Blu-Ray records
// December 11th, 2008 // fun
I don’t have my copy yet, but I pre-ordered The Dark Knight on Blu-Ray this past weekend and it’s now sitting at Best Buy waiting for me to pick it up.
Seems like I wasn’t the only one interesting in grabbing a copy. On the day it was released (Tuesday, the 9th), there were 600,000 Blu-Ray discs sold. That smashed the old record by Iron Man of 250,000.
Most of you know that I made one final “Mike” purchase before Lyla was born and that was a Playstation 3, which has a Blu-Ray player. I highly recommend this as the method to switch to Blu-Ray. It’s a great gaming system, the player is always one of the top rated out there, plus it has another cool feature called a web browser.
I usually don’t like watching shows on my laptop, because it’s small and means I’m probably sitting at a table somewhere, not on my comfy couch. But just recently I realized my PS3 has a web browser. So the other day, I went to Hulu.com and brought up episodes of The Sarah Connor Chronicles, went to full screen and BAM! I was watching streaming video from Hulu right there on my TV.
Very awesome. It makes a PS3 a triple threat in a way. Gaming, Blu-Ray and streaming video.
Seems like Blu-Ray is catching on, so maybe this Christmas is the time to jump in?
Also, if you haven’t seen The Dark Knight yet, we’ll be having a viewing party sometime I’m sure

The Dark Knight……….Booooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! Hahahah
If I didn't already have Xbox 360 (and your old one btw), I could consider PS3. As for standalone Blu-Ray; the prices need to come down some more before I go deep on that technology. And I'm still not sold that it's the end game in movie technology.
You are so friggin crazy!
