Happy New Year!

// January 4th, 2009 // family

I know I’m a few days late, but what the hey. Happy New Year! I’d have gotten around to saying that earlier but we had family in town since the 31st of December, and I haven’t had any time to do much other than play around on Facebook.

Jina’s sister Jennifir, her husband Chuck and their son Jackson (3 years old) came out to stay with us through Sunday morning, and we had a spectacular time. In fact, you can see all the photos from the last week already uploaded right here on my blog!

Legos...are...so...cool It was special to have them out. Jackson is my only nephew so getting to see him at an age where he’s talking and really starting to become his own person was such a blast. I made sure we got him some Legos for Christmas, and that was such a hoot for me to see him open them and teach him a bit of how to put them together.

I also got to show him the giant crate of Legos that I have from the days my brother and I used to play with them. I think he was in heaven for awhile there.

Jina and her sister are very close, so it’s always good to see her and Chuck. We usually see them every Thanksgiving when we travel out to Jefferson, Texas to stay with their parents. But with Lyla’s arrival, that didn’t happen in 2008.

And speaking of Lyla, she’s doing great.  She’s sleeping longer at times, although it’s still with us most of the time either in bed or the couch. We’ll be transferring her to the crib soon, but right now, it’s allowing us both to get enough sleep to function better during the daylight hours.

She had a busy week, but did brilliantly. We went to the mall on one day and I think she was asleep in her car seat/stroller for something like 4-5 hours. It was amazing.

Lyla is six weeks old now and was wide-awake for a little video we filmed of her on Saturday. Here is it below, hopefully you guys enjoy it!

    Awwww!!! She is so cute & cuddly! Thank you so much for posting the video – that was really fun to watch — I had a smile from ear-to-ear the entire time. I like Jina's comment at the very end about the "papparazzi" (you) always there!

    Isn't it just the greatest to see her little personality and to see her learn how to move her arms and legs all over. I just love that little angel of yours, after just meeting her one time.
