More Dark Knight love

Tags

I wrote yesterday about the Producers Guild of America including The Dark Knight in their top-give for Best Picture of the year, and now the momentum for TDK is pushing forward.

Following suit, the Director’s Guild Awards has also seen fit to include the Caped Crusader in their top five. As is normal with both the PGA and DGA, as well as the Oscars…both have the same nominations:

Slumdog Millionaire, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Frost/Nixon and Milk to go with The Dark Knight.

I’ve seen Slumdog, it deserves to be up there. I still want to see Benjamin Button and Frost/Nixon before the Academy Awards.

Anyways…more love for TDK. You may ask why I care or even want to write about it. I just think it’s high time a super hero movie proves to be more than just fluff in the eyes of these award shows. And TDK was not only a super hero movie, but also a great, great film.

I think TDK is definitely the bests super hero movie made thus far, whether or not it’s the best movie of 08 is another matter. There was a lot to like about TDK, but it also had some drawbacks. I’d like to see some of the others before I crown it best of 08.

Hahaha I think you write about it so that I will comment and say that is was just “okay” as a film!

Who is Scotty Dub??? Me and that person need to be friends!!

So well put, “it also had some drawbacks”

I totally get where you guys are coming from, but I’d still like to hear the “drawbacks” and why it made the movie just “okay”…

So why it was just OK; 1. Batman’s silly raspy voice, 2. It was too freaking long, 3. it had what felt like 3 different endings, by the real end I was just ‘thank God this is finally over, 4. 2 face needed to be more involved, it really didn’t work that well.

If I go back and watch it again I’m sure I’ll come up with more. The reality for me is that while it was really good movie and a great super hero movie, it’s just not a great movie among others.

I’ll agree with you on the voice…yeah, it shouldn’t have been like that. I didn’t think it was TOO long, but it did go on a bit.

I thought the end was right and good, it didn’t feel like it should have ended at another point…nothing had been resolved yet.

Anyways, as far as a good movie…the production, the acting, the cinematography, the way they used IMAX cameras…the way the Joker was portrayed…all of it was outstanding.
