Today another birthday came and went and there was something very cool about celebrating it with my almost 12-week old baby girl.

I came home, took her from mom and we sat staring at each other making goofy faces. What else could be better?

So it’s hard when your big day falls on a Thursday. Can’t really do a whole lot on a night like that. When Jina asked what I wanted to do this year, I took a look at all the leftover Super Bowl beer in my fridge and decided I wanted to have a guys poker night. Smoke some cigars, play some cards, drink a few beers, eat pizza and maybe have a scary movie playing in the background.

That’s going on this Friday night, the 13th. Can’t wait.

For my birthday today, Jina and Lyla took me to Joe’s Farm Grill and I had free dinner thanks to Joe’s birthday deal. Jina bought me a hilarious card (funny is always good) and then dropped a new Flip Mino HD Camcorder in front of me!

We’d been talking about getting a video camera ever since Lyla was born, and this one has gotten great reviews for soemthing so small and compact. Can’t wait to test it out!

My mom also floated me a few bones that will be spent completely on Legos here in a day or two. I’ve gotten sucked into a few of their advanced technic sets and been having a blast putting them together. I know, who am I? I am a 34-year old who still loves to put Legos together! Sue me!

At this point though in the week, I’m mostly just happy to be healthy. Most of you know I was sick last week and it was brutal. It lasted for seven days, and included fun things like intolerable headaches, painful sore throats, two trips to the doctor and fevers over 102.

But I’m better now and have had a great finish to the week.

How does it feel to be 34? Egh, who knows. I feel better with it now that Lyla is finally here and I no longer worry about being 50 before I am at last a father.

It’s good though…life is good, work is good, Lyla is great and Jina is smokin’. What else could a guy really want?

Looking forward to a three-day weekend like nobody’s business.
