Jina and Wisdom
// February 25th, 2009 // family
My poor wife is either finally catching what I had a few weeks ago, or some new bug has found its way to our house, but either way she’s home sick today and I’m hoping this blog post will cheer her up a little bit.
Jina stuns me all the time with her ability to read a situation, interpret it and respond with advice or words that are always, always, always appropriate or necessary. I call it wisdom, but whatever it is, God has blessed her with an abundance of it.
We’ve been married for over 10 years now and have been involved in some kind of small group for most of that time. I actually give a lot of credit to small groups for us having a healthy marriage today.
But what has impressed me in the small group setting is Jina’s amazing talent for being able to hear someone talk about a problem, concern or difficulty in their life, and then respond with words that are always incredibly on target. Sometimes the person she is speaking to doesn’t even realize what they are truly feeling until Jina untangles the mess and gives them the good stuff.
I honestly have no idea how she does it. I know it comes from God, but it’s still amazing. I can sit there and listen to someone spill their guts, tell our group about the hard times they are going through, how they are at a loss for what to do…and then I usually am at a loss as to what I can say to help out. I mean, I have an idea of what is going on…that is, until Jina responds and totally blows me out of the water.
How did she see that? Are you kidding me?
I remember when our church closed a couple of year ago…the church her father started, the church where we got married and the church where it was like home to all of us. You could compare it to the bar “Cheers” because everyone knew your name. You’d walk in and always see someone you knew.
There was a day when we had a big group of people talking about how we were going to move forward when the church was gone…I’m talking a circle with about 30+ people sitting around. Intimidating. People much older and wiser than us. You thought they’d have the answers.
But then Jina stood up to speak…and I honestly can’t remember exactly what she said…but the room was moved and you could just sense God speaking through her. It was one of those moments I wont ever forget about her.
It’s something that makes me incredibly proud to be her husband.
On a side note, she always knows where everything is around the house. Even if it’s something of mine that she’s never laid eyes on, somehow she’ll know right where to find it

Sounds like she missed her calling… she should start a help line…
oh I forgot… Hope you feel better Jina!!! Hang in there….
Thanks Cap’n. By the way, I think you are Mike’s second biggest fan.
Right after Charlie, eh?
