The Amazing Race returns! (Contest!)

Those that are newer readers to this blog probably don’t know how much we love The Amazing Race. If there was ever a wholesome reality show on TV, this is it. Competitive, fun, tense, entertaining and high quality. That’s what this show is about.

Season 14 kicked off tonight and man, it was great to have it back. The teams seem pretty awesome, a lot of likeable people and a diverse group.

And to be quite honest, I’ve never seen two more dangerous looking and tough challenges to start a season.

*spoilers*

First you have a bungee jump straight down a damn that looked downright frightening. Doing a bungee jump off a bridge is one thing, but when you have a wall on one side the entire way down, that would freak me out.

And then there was the 50-pound projectile lumps of cheese that would seriously kill you if it hit you dead on. I’m shocked they didn’t do more damage. The bottom of the hill must have evened out a bit there, because they those things got moving, yikes.

That was a brutal challenge. The hill was steep, slippery and you had to carry cheese down it. I don’t know what it was, but that had to be one of the better Amazing Race challenges.

So Jennifer and Preston were unable to outrun the hicks from Virginia and were the first team eliminated from the race. Unbelievable. Linda could barely even move. You have to wonder if the hick meant to send their tape to The Amazing Walk, but somehow got the addresses confused.

Still, it’s doubtful Jennifer and Preston would have lasted anyways. They started fighting almost before they got started and you knew they were in trouble. Anyone who has been dating 3-years and aren’t married yet…there is usually something keeping them from making that final leap, right?

Okay, and yeah, I’ve been known to get a bit choked up at the end of a leg of Amazing Race, when the contestants weep about how hard they tried, etc., but don’t tell me you didn’t get misty-eyed when Phil signed, “Luke and Margie…you are team number ONE!”

That was fantastic…nice job Phil!

The CONTEST

As many of you know, I like to do a little Amazing Race challenge or contest during the season to make things interesting.

The prize: Dunno yet, probably a gift certificate. Definitely respect from your fellow commenters.

Now, I’m looking for at least 4-5 entries, so if we don’t get that, I probably wont keep up with this, but I certainly would like to! So toss some names into the hat and see what happens.
