Calvin and Hobbes
// March 3rd, 2009 // family
My friend Richard Porter posted this on his blog today and it hit home with me I think in a unexpected way, so I wanted to pass it on.
I’m sure some of you read Calvin and Hobbes when you were younger and it was always such a great comic strip. It was both funny and moving at the same time.
Well, a few artists out there have gone about creating visions of the characters when Calvin is all grown-up and some of them are awesome.
This is my favorite and it’s the one Richard posted. I dunno why, probably because I have a daughter now and I still buy Legos, but it kind of choked me up this morning. I think the words at the bottom are something to strive for.

I also liked this last one that I found from Richard’s source, but for different reasons. It’s supposed to be the “final Calvin & Hobbes” strip that someone drew and even if it’s not official, it sure feels like the appropriate ending for the series and it kind of tugs on your heartstrings a bit, especially if you are like me and loved these characters.
(you may need to click on it to actually read it)
Anyone else out there love Calvin & Hobbes?

Huge Calvin & Hobbes fan – loved the strip. It is my second favorite comic strip of all time. I still miss it.
Reading Calvin and Hobbes makes me want to be a kid again. You have no idea how much I loved C&H comics. Some of my cousins and I would spend hours reading their comics and pretending to derive the rules of calvinball.
Dang it, now you’ve gotten me all emotional for the rest of the day.
Loved, loved, LOVED Calvin & Hobbes! Spaceman Spiff, Calvinball, all his crazy snowmen… what a great comic strip! I loved “The Future” picture you posted, Mike. It’s perfect. Got me all teary-eyed. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome guys, so glad it hit home for you all like it did me…there is something about The Future picture that speaks volumes.
Doh…. you posted sad ones =( we need a funny one to right the wrong!
I love Bill, he really inspired me to do the daily cartoon I do to this day. The “Future” poster made me shed a single tear and reminded me of Calvin and his best freind, Hobbes.
The second strip is horrible. Much 2 sad……..
