Calvin and Hobbes

// March 3rd, 2009 // family

My friend Richard Porter posted this on his blog today and it hit home with me I think in a unexpected way, so I wanted to pass it on.

I’m sure some of you read Calvin and Hobbes when you were younger and it was always such a great comic strip. It was both funny and moving at the same time.

Well, a few artists out there have gone about creating visions of the characters when Calvin is all grown-up and some of them are awesome.

This is my favorite and it’s the one Richard posted. I dunno why, probably because I have a daughter now and I still buy Legos, but it kind of choked me up this morning. I think the words at the bottom are something to strive for.

I also liked this last one that I found from Richard’s source, but for different reasons. It’s supposed to be the “final Calvin & Hobbes” strip that someone drew and even if it’s not official, it sure feels like the appropriate ending for the series and it kind of tugs on your heartstrings a bit, especially if you are like me and loved these characters.

(you may need to click on it to actually read it)

Anyone else out there love Calvin & Hobbes?

    Reading Calvin and Hobbes makes me want to be a kid again. You have no idea how much I loved C&H comics. Some of my cousins and I would spend hours reading their comics and pretending to derive the rules of calvinball. :)

    Dang it, now you’ve gotten me all emotional for the rest of the day.

    I love Bill, he really inspired me to do the daily cartoon I do to this day. The “Future” poster made me shed a single tear and reminded me of Calvin and his best freind, Hobbes.
