Let’s talk about Lost!

// March 5th, 2009 // family

So I get now why ABC canceled Life on Mars. No need for two shows that have people sent back to the 1970s.

Especially not when Lost is soooooooo much more awesome.

**********SPOILERS!!!!***********

**********SPOILERS!!!!***********

normal_lafleur497Wow…what a friggin’ episode. Blew my mind. I don’t know about you guys, but it never occurred to me that the people left on the Island (Sawyer, etc) would sit around for three years waiting for them to return.

I mean, this is kind of tough to think about. First off, I figured when Locke fixed the wheel and landed in Tunisia three years in the future, that the Island itself was also in the same time.

But that’s not what happened. He went one way, they went back. Why? And how?

And secondly, raise your hand if before the episode you figured the Aljira flight crashed in a different time? Holy crap, I had no INKLING that it may have jumped in time as well.

Before I get too far…how about that STATUE at the beginning?? That was awesome, if so very brief. They must have been WAAAAY back in time and it sure would have been nice to see a bit more of that period in the life of the Island.

I really loved this episode. It shows how Faraday will eventually tell Charlotte that she can never return to the Island, and it also makes sense now how Faraday appeared in the Orchid at the start of the season.

Now I’m think he’s down there trying to send the Island back to the current time?

And now…holy crap. Sawyer and Juliette. And then Kate shows up. Was three years enough time or was he full of crap?

normal_lafleur615So now we have everyone back together, it’s 1970 and who the heck knows what is about to happen!

Did anyone think that the baby boy that Juliette delivered would be someone meaningful? I kept waiting for the name, but it never came.

On a side note, loved seeing Michelle from 24 playing the pregnant women and then the dude from Friday Night Lights at the beginning in the control room.

What did you all think of the episode??

Also, I thought we were ASSURED that there would be no breaks between episodes, but here we go with a week off. Nice ABC.

I really enjoyed the episode last night. A lot of people have been thinking the statue is of Anubis or another egytptian god/ess. Here is a link if you read the comments read “ant” really digs deep. http://www.getlostpodcastmedia.com/2009/03/04/lost-episode-5×08-lafleur-screencaps-easter-eggs-audio-analysis/
I personally liked the guy from Old School in the beginning sequence.

Great post Mike! This show is consistently terrific! You brought up a few things I hadn’t thought about, like if the baby Juliette delivered is someone key or important.

I like seeing the back history of the island first-hand for ourselves. I wonder if at some point we’ll get to see middle-aged Widmore leading the Others before he was exiled?

You mentioned that we can probably assume that the Ajira flight also moved in time as well back to the 70s.
My crazy theory of the week…

This wrecked Ajira plane is the one used to stage the fake 815 plane crash in the future.

There are still some questions of how they would be able to drop it off at some part of the ocean. But assuming they find a way to accomplish that, they could have modified this ship a bit to look like 815, place a bunch of dead bodies in there and carry on with the scheme.

    Nice one Adrian.

Another theory I heard from the Trousered Ape and Capn’ Schwartz today is that perhaps Locke and the plane aren’t in the 1970′s like Sawyer, Jack, etc. Those blinked off the plane went back to join their friends, the others crashed in the current time.
