The Amazing Race Leg 3!
// March 1st, 2009 // fun
If I were on The Amazing Race, it’s a sure thing that I’d probably die of a heart attack when it came to booking flights and flying on these commercial airlines. I’m too competitive…I’d go nuts just praying I didn’t miss a connection or have a flight turnaround half-way to Bucharest just to set us so far back.
Oh yeah, both happened tonight. I’m not sure how either team didn’t lose it. Actually, one did.
Speaking of death, if I had to wear those gymnastic outfits, I’d probably die a second time from embarrassment.
It really sucks that Brad and Victoria finished last Sunday night. Granted, they took a chance on the connecting flight, but man it was horrible luck. Fog wouldn’t let other planes leave and they were stuck for like 9+ hours.
Not only that, but the cruelty really set in when Phil didn’t appear out of nowhere to let them know that they were the only team still racing. I know they’ve done that before. But tonight, the 8th placed team made it with afternoon light blazing, but Brad and Victoria were opening coffins in the dark.
Plenty of time to let them know it was over. I’m just curious why they sometimes stop them and didn’t tonight.
There was one big lesson learned tonight and it was Victor becoming wiser:
The Amazing Race uses red and YELLOW markers!
Helloooo? That was so crazy to me. He led Tammy up a mountain so high, the Dracula castle was a speck below them. How on earth did he think this long run was the right way? Wouldn’t you get half-way and think maybe the other challenge was faster?
He’s stubborn, but also one of my picks. I’m hoping he relaxes a bit next week and let’s his sister do some of the leading.
I’m still bumming about Brad and Victoria. They were a solid team, a good team, one I thought would be at the end. Crazy dumb luck.
But we all should have seen it coming. In fact, I thought it for a brief 2.5 seconds at the beginning of the show but quickly forgot.
The editors, who had told us NOTHING about B&V during the first two legs, decided to open up the show with a little insight into their relationship.
Second lesson learned tonight, this time by all of us:
If a team that has been up-til-now not discussed much suddenly gets their own Oprah-moment, you can kiss them goodbye.
Decent episode, although the challenges were just not up to par with the first two weeks.
THE CONTEST
So we’ve lost a decent team this week, meaning a few of you aren’t going to be happy. Four teams had B&V this week and here are the standings after the dust settled:
Melissa Jill – Tammy & Victor, Brad & Victoria, Mark & Michael
Scott – Tammy & Victor, Margie & Luke, Mark & Michael
Jina – Amanda & Kris, Lakisha & Jennifer, Brad & Victoria
Sarah – Margie & Luke, Brad & Victoria, Mark & Michael
Kathy – Christi & Jodi, Cara & Jamie, Amanda & Kris
Mike – Amanda & Kris, Tammy & Victor, Margie & Luke
Tracy – Cara & Jamie, Tammy & Victor
Nicky – Cara & Jamie, Mike & Mel
Sara – Margie & Luke, Brad & Victoria
Adrian – Mike & Mel, Christie & Jodi

It’s crap really… I think that’s a sad way for me to lose a team. Recount, Phil, recount!
I agree with the recount Jina! So wrong! Sad to see a team go that I thought really had a chance…but that is the nature of the game.
This is the only reality show I have seriously thought about applying for. But I totally agree with the airport travel…it’s so out of their control. I would lose my mind. And the gymnastics outfits…yeah, never gonna happen.
Looking forward to next week!
