The Amazing Race, leg 6

// March 22nd, 2009 // fun

Busy week ahead, I’m tired and need to his the sack…but I still wanted to pass along a few thoughts from The Amazing Race.

***SPOILERS!***

First off, it seems like TAR goes to India every year and always makes sure to capture the reactions of the players when they see the poverty that is evident almost everywhere they go. I admire that they take the time to make sure that us fat, lazy Americans are aware of what is going on in the rest of the world.

But then they make teams beg for money? Ahhh, but it was for the Red Cross we find out towards the end thanks to Mike’s dad, and that made it a bit better for me.

Also, I think Mike and Mel are my favorite team right now. I love their…well, love for each other that you can see in everything they do. Mel is afraid to let Mike down, Mike doesn’t care either way, but both are playing the game as hard as they can.

It’s a nice contrast to the NFL cheerleaders, one of which was crying because of the stray dogs, cows and animals in India. It’s sad to see all that I’m sure, but Luke in tears over children eating garbage…that seems like something that would bring any of us to weep openly.

Tammy and Victor once again finish first, with as much as enthusiasm as they could possibly muster. I swear, Victor could get excited over a bowl of hot soup. WOOOO! HOT SOUP! YAY!

The flight attendants, Christi and Jodi, finished last and it wasn’t much of a surprise, even if they actually were only a minute or two behind the short guys.

On a side note, has anyone actually stopped watching the show for a second and just pay attention to the editing? I wonder how much work it is to splice 1-3 second clips together to form a 22 40+ minute show?

If you pay attention, most clips are only 1-3 seconds, while on occasion you get a few longer ones. It’s kind of weird when you think about it. No wonder the show feels so intense half the time.

The Contest!

Kathy and Adrian had the flight attendants, and thus lose a team each. We’re getting down to crunch time here. Who do you think is going to win the whole thing?

Melissa Jill – Tammy & Victor, Brad & Victoria, Mark & Michael

Scotty – Tammy & Victor, Margie & Luke, Mark & Michael

Jina – Amanda & Kris, Lakisha & Jennifer, Brad & Victoria

Sarah – Margie & Luke, Brad & Victoria, Mark & Michael

Kathy – Christi & Jodi, Cara & Jamie, Amanda & Kris

Mike – Amanda & Kris, Tammy & Victor, Margie & Luke

Tracy – Cara & Jamie, Tammy & Victor

when did tAR become a 22 minute show? silly, mike, go to bed

  3. Mike says:

    Wow, thanks Jina :) I WAS tired…lol

  4. Tracy says:

This episode was interesting. The teams were very close, but they were such followers – searching the tree, not paying attention to the red phones. Then, using the water buckets and their shirts for the hay, not paying attention to the baskets.
PS – I wanted to strangle the cheerleaders! Mel’s humanity was so impressive, when the cab driver locked their bags in the trunk, then took off for directions, and when he finally came back he said nobody ever deserves to be yelled at.
