Amazing Race, Leg 10

// April 26th, 2009 // fun

Ohhhh, you sneaky Amazing Race…how dare you go and totally throw me for a loop?!?!

Which is honestly sad, because I believe they do this every year right? But I always forget and it always, always surprises me.

So let’s get right to it…SPOILERS BELOW!

Jennifer and Kisha have to have been immensely excited that they didn’t quit that water challenge. I mean, all of us knew they were going home right? They saw the last team leave before them and even THEY knew they were toast.

So why continue? Because Kisha wanted to finish strong.

Just goes to show you…always, ALWAYS finish a leg on The Amazing Race…you never know what might happen.

This week started off with me basically detesting Kisha and Jen. I don’t know if a team on this show has even gone from me liking them one week to total hatred in two weeks. They are snotty and mean. The whole airport scene where they made fun of the Chinese women behind the desk was sad.

Of course, if we took everything we learned from The Amazing Race tonight, it would be that the Chinese people have perfected non-expressions on their faces, they can’t speak English, they love seeing you cry during foot massages and they are harsh judges when it comes to Olympic sports.

And speaking of, how great was that foot massage detour? I loved the idea of it right off the bat, but dang did it look painful.

Actually, I thought both challenges were fun tonight. The swimming one was surprisingly difficult. Who knew jumping in syncronization would be that tough? It just didn’t seem to me that they took the time to look at each other, count together and then jump.

I’ve slowly become at least impartial for the cheerleaders in the last few weeks, and I was even “cheering” for them to finish first. I have to believe that always coming that close and failing to get that coveted first-place finish/prize would get tiresome.

Oh wait, it happened again. I think I felt their pain. Such a dramatic leg, such an emotional victory for those two girls to hear Phil say they were the first team to arrive and then…WHACK!

KEEP RACING!

Oh no! Not a pit stop??? Darn you Phil! Darn you Amazing Race! I did NOT see that coming, yet again!

The upside is that it gives us two more espidoes instead of just the finale. The bummer is for Cara and Jamie. The audience is the real winner on this leg.

On a side note, I don’t remember seeing that many blurred out mouths on this show before. You know a leg is great when people can’t help but swear on camera.

My wife disagreed with me, but I was so very, very done with Tammy and Victor using their ability to speak Chinese to their advantage, and then talking about it so much. Not sure why, but some of the stuff they did was just unfair. Sure, getting 5th row seats is fine, but telling taxi cabs to go to the wrong spot on a detour just sucks.

I’m still rooting for Margie and Luke to win this thing. They are a solid team, and breezed through that 400 meter swim with no problem. Margie doesn’t exactly look it, but that chick is in shape!

The Contest!

Yet again, no one is lost, so everyone lives to fight another week. Jina was sweating bullets.

Tammy & Victor didn’t tell any cabs to go to the wrong spot, they just could read the clue (Chinese long form) that indicated they should go to the north gate while no one else could read it. Don’t be a hater, Mike!
