Obvious Lost theory of the day

// April 3rd, 2009 // fun

I say “obvious” because I wonder if I’m the only one that hasn’t made the leap to this theory by now. Maybe all of you have thought it already and didn’t even mention it because it’s to darned obvious!

Okay, it all starts with Locke in the coffin. Yes, we’ve all noted how similar that is to Christian being in the coffin and then appearing on the Island.

But is it just me, or is that a sign of deeper symmetry?

Perhaps Christian has already been to the Island, and he had to return the same way. Perhaps there were others on that Oceanic 815 flight that magically “poofed” off the plane before it crashed, ala Jack, Kate, etc, this time around on Aljira.

It makes the idea of Christian much easier for me to believe. I think early on I just figured Jacob was using his body as a vessel to communicate or something.

But what if he’s been there all along? What if a future episode has a young Christian standing next to Ellie and Charles?

Wow.

Would even make Jack’s storyline that much better and more interesting. When is he going to find out?

What do you guys think? Was this obvious? Did you think about it already?

Or did I just blow your mind!

    Good theory, I had not considered that! Makes me think.

    Good theory about Christian having been on the island before. I’ve been wondering that too. Not sure if there were others on flight 815 that ‘poofed’ when that plane was about to crash because they checked the manifest afterwards and you would think that they would have noticed people missing from the list… though now that I think about it Hurley just cross referenced names he collected and names on the manifest… not sure if he completely checked the manifest. So maybe it is possible :)

    Mind.blown.

    I had just assumed Jacob was using Christian as a vessel and/or appearing in his form – just like Jacob/Smokey has appeared in the form of other dead relatives on the show – like Mr. Eko’s brother, Shannon, etc. Also, Christian has appeared to Jack off-island (remember he kept seeing him and thought he was going crazy?)

    This is an interesting theory… and like you say an obvious and practical leap, based on what we’ve seen with Locke. But there hasn’t been any foreshadowing or any kind of hints that Christian had some kind of connection to the island. So if they do pull that, I might have to accuse them of a Deus Ex Machina.

    But who am I kidding… I love this show so much… I stick along for the ride, no matter what they end up throwing at us! :)

    Ooooh, that’s a good theory Mike! I hadn’t really thought of that. I just assumed it was Jacob using Christian as a figurehead. I have to ponder this a bit…
