Twitter and Facebook are cool and stuff

// April 21st, 2009 // fun

Okay, so I want to address the people out there who think stuff like Facebook and Twitter are just a waste of time and space.

First off, if it wasn’t for Twitter, I wouldn’t have won a free order of Lettuce Wraps from Pei Wei like I did today.

And second, if it wasn’t for Facebook, Jina wouldn’t have found an old friend from high school who gave us free stuff.

Jina found Kelli, whom she knew from way back in junior high in the jazzy ol’ town of Memphis. They found each other again because of Facebook, and Kelli decided to send us a little gift in celebration of Lyla Grace being born.

We received it about a week ago, totally out of the blue, had no idea it was coming. I wanted to post a little picture of what she sent (see a bit below) to say a big thank you to Kelli! I know she reads my blog from time to time, so I also thank her for that!

And also, if you want a chance to win free food from Pei Wei, sign up for Twitter and then follow me and then @PeiWei. The guy who runs their Twitter account is great at keeping you updated on new foods and then for giving stuff away from time to time.

    I agree!! Getting free stuff is the best! – @joesrealbbq – gave me a free meal for being their 100th follower! And if I wasn’t following @libertymarket I would have not known about their Espresso 101 class where they gave me a free espresso shot glass.

    Free stuff is way awesome.

    I love facebook almost as much as I love Kelli! Yay for old friends!

    Seriously, I’ve gotten back in touch with people and it just makes you happy, doesn’t it? ;) And then being away from everyone makes it nice to be able to keep up, too. Facebook – It’s so great!

    Your new loot is adorable. ;) I’ve never seen a handmade wipe holder. Too cute!

    While I’m not a bit Twitter user, I can see how useful it is. As for Facebook, I think I have reconnected with more childhood and college friends through that site than I ever did through Classmates or any other online community.

    Hey Mike,
    Thanks for the “shout out.” I love reading your blog and feel reconnected to my BFF from jr. high/high school. (Ditto, Jina on the FB comment) Plus, big bows and monogrammed anything are a southern girls best friend. So watch-out – big bows may be coming your way. Luv ya, Jina Beana

    No problem Kelli, thanks for the awesome surprise gift!
