A new DirecTV DVR feature!
// May 4th, 2009 // fun
Wow, I totally discovered this by accident tonight. DirecTV somehow snuck something into their new software updates without telling any of us.
Which is so weird to me. How come we don’t get some kind of mail on our DVR that has new features/fixes?
Whatever. This is awesome.
Ever since we’ve had a DTV DVR, the one major downside is the lack of being able to quickly jump to any part of a recording. If you have a sports show on tape and want to get to the fourth quarter quickly, you had to either go to the 4th level of fast-forwarding, OR hold the Skip/Skip button for 3 seconds while fast-forwarding to jump to the next hash-mark.
Ugly and slow. I’ve always hoped they would just toss in that awesome Tivo feature where you hit fast-forward and
then the Skip button to quickly jump ahead.
Bam. We have it now.
Grab your remote, choose a recorded show and then start fast-forwarding at any level. Then, while it’s going forward, hit that little Skip/Slip button just above the fast-forward button. You’ll be amazed.
It works backwards as well, but you have to be rewinding and then hit that Jump Back/Replay button.
(you can see the photo to the right. The top two buttons are what I’m talking about)
So there you have it. Certainly will make things a bit easier for everyone.
Hope you didn’t know about this already and I just BLEW YOUR MIND!

Wow! Did not know that. Very cool!
I would be lost without you!
Sweet, can’t wait to try it.
For some reason I just noticed the red ’sports scores’ button the other day. Not sure if it’s been there a while to not, but the really cool thing is when you check scores you can then jump to that game via the display. Very cool!
Yeah Scotty, that’s new…I noticed it on the MLB Network channel a few days ago…what other channels does it appear on?
I don’t think ESPN, etc…which kind of sucks.
