Comic-Con, here we come! #comiccon
// May 6th, 2009 // fun
Last year I visited The San Diego Comic-Con for the first time over a Friday+Saturday in July and I had an amazing time. At the time, I was covering the event for Pop Critics, and thus was trying to get in as much as I could. Both days I went probably 8-9 hours without even bothering to eat or drink. There was that much to do there.
You can read about my experience there in this post over on the still-surprisingly-alive Pop Critics site: Comic-Con: The Wrap Up. Or check out all the articles I wrote.
This year I missed the Phoenix Comic-Con event and was a bit bummed, but always in my mind I had the idea that I would figure out some way to hit San Diego again.
Welp…done figured that out. And I’m not going alone.
My buddy The Cap’n, his son Wesley and yours truly will be hitting Comic-Con on July 23rd on a day tip to Southern California. It’s really the cheapest way to see it. Cheap flight on Southwest, one day pass, no hotel and no rental car (airport is close by).
On an early flight, land at 8:00am-ish, doors open around 9-10, we will be there until around 6pm and nab the 8:00pm-ish flight home.
The only downside is that 8 hours will probably not be enough to see everything we’ll want to see.
But I’m friggin’ excited. I was going to go by myself, but with the Cap’n and Wes joining me, we’re going to have a blast. They’ve both never been before and I can’t wait to be with them as they experience it for the first time.
Free stuff, crazy people dressed up in awesome costumes, comics everywhere, celebrities, stuff to buy…yadda, yadda, yadda.
This g0-round I will be there just as a normal visitor instead of media, so I expect it to be more relaxing.
But it’s only 8 hours! No breaks except to pee and maybe eat. I will have water and snacks in my empty backpack so that I don’t have to stop (empty when I get there, hopefully full of free stuff and comics for the trip home).
To top it off, the three of us already kind of know what we’re wearing, lol!
I’m donning my awesome Batman t-shirt, Wesley is wearing a Green Lantern tee and Marshall is trying to decide between two shirts he loves.
Yes…we’re nerding it up and geeking out…and proud of it!
Anyone else up for joining us, just book a flight and come along!
Only requirement is a superhero t-shirt *grin*

Nice. Reading this article makes me hyped up about my trip!
If only I had a superhero t-shirt….
Who’s Marshall? =P
Are we there yet…. ?!?!?!
