First released trailer for The Road

// May 14th, 2009 // fun

I wrote about the first review for this movie today, but now the first trailer is released for the film, The Road.

The opening of the trailer I think isn’t going to be part of the film…it’s a lot of scenes from real catastrophes, etc., and the book itself never says WHY things are the way they are, it’s just set 2-3 years after “it” happened.

But the coolness of some of the scenes in this trailer is that they are taken from real life scenes that have been edited to look bleak and gray.  I believe one of the shots of some ships sitting on land were from a real life shot after Katrina.

Watch the trailer after the jump, tell me what you think.

    Ok I was messing with you before my good friend, but this trailer does not compare to any of the Star trek ones that were released to make this want to be the one movie I see if I could only pick one…. any chance the book was awesome but the movie isnt as good as the book?

    I didn’t say the trailer was awesome…could the movie suck? I guess, but nothing I’ve heard has said that…like the review I posted, the guy said it was the most important film of the year.

    I think it’s just for those that loved the book, the idea of seeing our vision of this place become real on the screen is awesome.

    Sort of like Lord of the Rings finally being done justice.

  3. I didn’t “love” the book quite as much as some others but I thought it could make a good film if done right. It looks like they’ve done a good job. I want to see it.

    I’m a Aragorn fan so I will see it just so I can see him slice up some hillbilly folk..

    Capn -read the book first. If you like anywhere near as much as Mike and I did, you’ll be looking forward to the movie as well.

    The book is easily one of the top 3 I’ve read in the last five years.

    Thanks Scotty… I recall you and Mike really liking the book awhile back whent he film was being cast you guys were praising the book pretty highly. It seems interesting, but the trailer above seems your typical Mad Max post Apocolyptic survival film where group A tries to get to a destination without being eaten by group B… I might have to go dig up the book tho…
