There for awhile, it did seem like they were just pulling stuff out of thin air or just making things up as they were going along. But the finale certainly seemed to be purposefully-driven.

How can you ever think they don't have a clue? :) They know what they are doing, they have a PLAN! :)

Mid-season, I was ready to give up on Lost, sure that the creators didn't have a clue where they were going and were just pulling stuff outta their behinds. Okay, okay, the last couple of episodes and the season finale convinced me otherwise!

But now I'm chapped that we hafta wait 8 months for the new season! Aiigh!

My wife has this theory that the Island is purgatory and the plane crash survivors are, in fact, not survivors at all but they just haven't moved on to Heaven yet.

I just realized that the show appears to date the Ajira flight survivors on the island in 2007 (We know the dharma stuff is in 1977, and the show will say '30 years later' when jumping to the Ajira-centric scenes). We see Jacob get stabbed in 2007. But Jacob visits Hurley after he gets out of jail in 2008. What does this mean?

All I am saying is I cried when Juliet "died". She was good for Sawyer.

-
Charles Widmore referenced a war that was coming to the Island, maybe it's supposed to be Armageddon? This is where all forces will unite to fight evil, the question is who/what is evil in Lost?

We know that Esau is the leader of evil, but I don't think we have any idea of who his army is (I don't believe we've been introduced to them).
-

We still don't know where Claire is. And the significance of Aaron, we know he has to play a role or why would the psychic want them on the Island so bad? It was for Claire to raise her child, well, if the plane landed in LAX, who would have been the adoptive parents? THAT will be an interesting thing to find out!

I wonder if they'll show us what the psychic saw.

Ditto Jina. I had to pause so many times to process and think about what had happened 10 minutes before. I am going to have to re-watch the finale to catch everything.

Great post Mike. Sooo many new questions! My head is still spinning! And here I was, all looking forward to finally meeting Jacob (which, don't get me wrong, was very rewarding) but now I'm totally freaked out and intrigued by Esau. What's the deal with those two!?!? Are they gods?!? Brothers?!?

Btw - the skeleton they find in the van isn't Horus, it's "Roger" with the title of "Workman". It's Ben's dad. The day of the Purge, Ben gased Roger in the van and left him there to rot. (Season 3.)

What's driving me crazy is the duality of Locke's character this season. Yeah, we finally see that 'Esau' inhabits that body in someway but I can't shake the fact that it's still Locke in some way. Whether it's moments like bringing up a memory of when he and Ben first met (referencing the hatch door) or even more confusing is when the Other's brigade finally reach the big foot and Locke ask what's so special about a giant foot while they're looking for Jacob. 'Esau' would know the significance of that foot. Is it really 2 people in one John Locke?

Also, the body found in the dharma van long ago belonged to 'Workman', or Ben's dad. Not Horace. It was left there when the Purge happened.
