The Amazing Race recap, leg 11!

// May 4th, 2009 // fun

****SPOILERS!!*****

Just so you guys know…if any of you are ever my teammate on The Amazing Race and I had to pee on my way to the final pit stop before the finish line…I have news for you.

I’d go right there in my pants, while running to see Phil.

No joke.

I’d do it for you. I’d do it for me. I’d do it for a million dollars.

You have a team that was close behind you, the pit stop is somewhere nearby but you haven’t found it yet and you stop to take a leak?

I just don’t think I could do it.

I feel bad for Kisha and Jennifer, because as much as I ended up not liking them a  whole lot, they sure had some odds to overcome on this leg. Swimming, being in last place, then a U-Turn…and they were so close to making it into the final three.

Not to mention that final challenge with the Chinese people ordering dinner…that would have driven me crazy.

Although some of the translations at the bottom of the screen were downright hilarious.

So it was goodbye to Kisha and Jennifer, hello to the teams that will race one final leg for the one million dollars.

Cara and Jamie are the dark horse in this thing now. You heard Phil at the end. They have a real chance at becoming the first all-girl team to win The Amazing Race.

Or course, they only have a chance to win if the final leg ends up in an English-speaking country.

As we all know, the beginning of this leg was just a continuation from last week, where the pit stop was more like a mirage on the horizon. The teams looked exhausted to me…I can’t even remember the time, but once they kept on going, you could see the sun start to rise.

Racing all day and night, only to have no break. Tiring. But a great way to go into the final leg. Make them work.

I think it might have caught up a bit with Margie who, for the first time on the race, appeared quite frustrated with Luke. Upset at having to sign everything for me, upset at his skills in applying a nice base coat to her face…everything.

She DID totally look like Alice Cooper though.

What was funny for me during this episode was that I almost joined Jamie in her distaste of China. Not the country itself, but just the fact that we were still THERE. This was now the third straight week that we’ve been in this country and it was starting to wear on me.

Especially because it has made it that much easier for Tammy and Victor, which was starting to become a somewhat unfair advantage.

Even if it took them two tries to get the food order correct.

At least we’re probably assured the first task next week will be to board a plane headed for the United States.

Home sweet home.

That episode is the finale of course, and we have three teams that all really have a chance to win it.

Yes, the cheerleaders probably have the WORST chance, but they’ve held their own.

Here are my odds for each team to win it all next week:

2:1Tammy and Victor: They’ve probably been the most consistent team all season, they communicate well, they move fast and they don’t seem to make mistakes. Luck is always on their side.

3:1Margie and Luke: They are almost as good as Tammy and Victor, but not quite. Surprisingly athletic and fast. Tammy and Victor should be very afraid.

10:1Jamie and Cara: These girls have made it thus far by playing hard, but they just make too many mistakes to really challenge here at the end. But I hope they do anyways.

My prediction on who wins it all. Are you ready?

Are you sure?

MARGIE AND LUKE

I honestly kind of like all the teams. I thought Tammy and Victor were the best team from that initial first episode, and they are here in the final three, proving me a good judge of…oh whatever, I got lucky.

Any of the three teams would be fun to see win. The first all-girl team. The first team with a deaf person. And I’m going with Luke and his mother, because he so badly wants to win this thing…and she’s now totally in it for herself, as well as her boy.

I think they will pull it out.

What about you guys? I want to hear YOUR predictions! Let me know in the comments below!

THE CONTEST!

We lost Jina this week, so that makes only two teams from our initial ten that are totally out of it going into the season finale.

Eight of us are still alive. Makes me wonder if this contest is just a bit too easy *grin*

If Tammy and Victor win, four of you guys win (including me).

If Margie and Luke win, three of you guys win (including me).

If Jamie and Cara win, three of you guys win (not including me).

Next year we’ll do a tiebreaker involving the selection of the final city destination and the person who gets closest will win it all.

There is a $5 dollar Starbucks giftcard waiting for each winner. Unless you hate that place, then we can work something out.

Melissa Jill – Tammy & Victor, Brad & Victoria, Mark & Michael

Scotty – Tammy & Victor, Margie & Luke, Mark & Michael

Jina – Amanda & Kris, Lakisha & Jennifer, Brad & Victoria

Sarah – Margie & Luke, Brad & Victoria, Mark & Michael

Kathy – Christi & Jodi, Cara & Jamie, Amanda & Kris

Mike – Amanda & Kris, Tammy & Victor, Margie & Luke

Tracy – Cara & Jamie, Tammy & Victor

Nicky – Cara & Jamie, Mike & Mel

Sara – Margie & Luke, Brad & Victoria

Adrian – Mike & Mel, Christie & Jodi

Remember, tell me who you think will win it all at in the comments below!

I think and am rooting for Margie and Luke to win. They have done REALLY well. I can’t imagine how hard it would to compete for them with their communication barrier and I just really don’t want either of the other two teams to win. I’m not a big fan of either of the other two teams even though Tammy and Victor have done really well. Jaime and Cara have frustrated me because they have been pretty hateful toward the locals. What did they really expect it is a race in other countries.

“Of course, they only have a chance to win if the final leg ends up in an English-speaking country.” … and with no taxis!

I have to say that they all had to be extremely exhausted on this leg especially since they didn’t have a chance to rest on a plane or anything… it really was non-stop racing. Whew!

I want Tammy and Victor to win. I can’t really say why, but I do. I would be okay with Margie and Luke, but I think I feel they have relied on alliances a bit more (which always kind of irks me). I totally do not want the cheerleaders to win. Although I do like Cara. If she could win on her own, I’d be good with that.

I will say the final leg is usually a crap-shoot. Anyone can win; it doesn’t necessarily lend itself to the best team. We’ll see.

  3. Tracy says:

Amen! That is exactly what I was thinking, pee your pants! She had on the outfit which would have hidden it.
I was way sick of China too, and how easy Tammy and Victor had it.
Can we talk about how awesome Cara was for downing that nasty food. I need an A.R. partner who could down the gross food, because I’d puke. I want to smack Jamie – she is one of “those” Americans we get a bad rep. from in other countries. Even if they cant understand your language and can pick up your nasty tone.
Gotta say, I’d love to see an all-girl team, Tammy and Victor aren’t interesting enough to root for, and Margie and Luke would be such an impressive win – didn’t think they’d make it to the final 3. But I THINK Tammy and Victor will win.

  4. nicky says:

i couldn’t believe how fast Cara downed those creepy crawlies. that was amazing. she should win all on her own for being a great competitor and putting up with Jamie’s complaining!

  5. Mike says:

Cara’s actually been pretty cool…the Entertainment Weekly guy pointed out how even-keel she’s been, never getting that upset…and then this week she does the little “camera wink” about how lame Jamie is being.

    Good stuff.
