This and That

Another weekend in the books, one that felt a little too short for me. My trip to Portland ended up getting me home Friday night around 10:30pm, so I missed seeing Lyla awake and came home to a sleeping wife. Who can blame her after having to take care of our little girl for essentially three straight days?
Being away from them was a lot harder than I thought. I was barely there a five hours before I started missing them. Seeing a cool new city like Portland was fun, I took pictures, had a nice dinner, went to a bookstore…but after awhile, I missed them being there with me.
(speaking of Portland, I loved the city, enjoyed the scenery and the “greenery.” I took some photos, which you can see in the Photos section of this blog)
It was so fun to hang out with them this weekend. We were out a lot both days, doing some shopping in preparation for our upcoming trip to Oklahoma and me getting new glasses.
One thing we love to do is get out of the house. There hasn’t been many “events” lately, and it’s been hot out, but we still get to the mall, or out to eat, or whatever, and enjoy being together.
Lyla is getting so very alert and “agile” now…I was sitting with her at San Tan Mall (while mommy was shopping) out where the kids play in the water and the playground toys, and she was just soaking up all the fun. She does little dances, smiles at the kids and just gets excited in general.
Such a trooper too. It’s hot, we carry her, put her in the stroller, but she just plods along with us without complaining too much. I think it’s been great for us to get her used to being outside and with other people.
This upcoming week will be busy for me. I’m going with two other people from work up to Williams, Arizona to do some warranty work on a system we installed last Fall. It’s a day trip, meaning a 3-hour drive up, 8 hours of work, and then driving home.
Hopefully it will be smooth sailing.
Once that is over, I’m hoping to have Thursday off to spend time with Jina and Lyla, plus get ready for Oklahoma. We leave Friday morning.

Woo-hoo! Vacation is coming up soon. It will be great to get out of town and to see family!
” 3-hour drive up…” and drive back… and dont forget the .56 cents a mile adds up!
