What a great weekend. I took Friday off from work just so Jina could find some time to relax, take a nap and recoup from a fairly hectic week taking care of Lyla on her own, all the while traveling.

Seeing them walking towards me at the airport was awesome, but her tears were all the evidence I needed to realize how tired and exhausted she was.

Finally being with them again was awesome. Lyla seemed to have changed in just the four days she’d been away. Not even sure exactly WHAT was different, but she just seemed “older.”

And she keeps getting older every single day. She let loose with a new syllable this weekend, one I wanted to hear:

“Da!”

Of course, she was looking at Riley at the time. But that syllable has been uttered a few more times and I think she’s even starting to combine a few. She’s definitely talking more and louder.

And one other huge event in her life took place over the weekend: She’s now able to sit up for quite awhile without an support from us. We put her in a sitting position, drop some toys in front of her and she can sit for 5-15 minutes without falling over!

The video at the bottom of this post shows the whole thing. She just looks so dang cute sitting there playing with toys and looking around the room. I swear she gets cuter everyday.

She also got into another swimming pool this weekend and appears to already know the doggy paddle. No, I didn’t let her swim around, but she reminded someone of those little wind-up toy swimmers that just rotate their arms and legs and swim around in the water.

This week everything returns to normal for us. Jina goes back to work, Lyla to the sitter and me picking her up in the afternoons.

In other news, Jina and I celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary on Friday! Amazing that it’s been 11 years already. We are planning on going to dinner that night, maybe a movie, but it will be fairly low-key.
