Set your DVRs: Part 1

// September 14th, 2009 // fun

I haven’t done a whole lot of entertainment writing lately as different priorities and hobbies have taken over my free time. But it’s hard to ignore the new Fall season of television that is upon us, so I thought I’d run through the list of shows returning THIS week and let you know what I’m watching and what YOU should watch *grin*

* Shows I’m watching have asterisks in front of them!

Here is the schedule for this week’s season premeires.

Monday, Sept. 14 - I’m not recording anything below, but Jina will be watching Gossip Girl of course. I don’t much care for Jay Leno and this whole “10PM Slot” thing seems ridiculous to me.

Gossip Girl, 9 p.m. (CW)
The Jay Leno Show
, 10 p.m. (NBC)
Lincoln Heights, 8 p.m. (ABC Family)
One Tree Hill, 8 p.m. (CW)

Tuesday, Sept. 15 – Nothing on my list here.

The Biggest Loser, 8 p.m. (NBC)

Wednesday, Sept. 16 – No idea what this show is and doubt I’ll be checking it out.

The Beautiful Life, 9 p.m. (CW)

Thursday, Sept. 17 – Holy crap, it’s Thursday and it’s a NUTSO day with a little too much TV going on. It makes me thankful that Lyla goes to bed before 7pm.

I want to make sure you try out Community with Joel McHale. If you are a fan of The Soup, you’ll have to be watching. But it also has Chevy Chase and some other funny people…well worth giving a shot. I used to *love* Always Sunny, but lately it’s just gone overboard with the crudeness that used to seem almost “cute.”

Bones, 8 p.m. (Fox)
*Community
, 9:30 p.m. (NBC)
*Fringe
, 9 p.m. (Fox)
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
, 10 p.m. (FX)
*The Office
, 9 p.m. (NBC)
Parks and Recreation
, 8:30 p.m. (NBC)
*Saturday Night Live: Weekend Update Thursday
, 8 p.m. (NBC)
Survivor: Samoa
, 8 p.m. (CBS)

Friday, Sept. 18

Crash, 10 p.m. (Starz)

Sunday, Sept. 20 – It looks like I’m going to have to get HBO this season because of Curb Your Enthusiasm. They are doing a Seinfeld reunion over the course of the season which should be hysterically funny. Of course, with Dexter coming on Showtime in a few weeks, I may have to decide which is more important.

*Curb Your Enthusiasm, 9 p.m. (HBO)
Bored to Death, 9:30 p.m. (HBO)

What are you guys watching this week???

You still watch Parks and Recreation? Humor was just not there for me. I hope Community is good. Not much in common with your DVR schedule, but thanks for the reminder. Need to start checking to see what conflicts.

  2. Mike says:

I didn’t put an asterisk next to it…this is just the schedule for the week, not what I’m watching :)

The ones with asterisks next to the show are the ones I’m watching.

  3. Thursdays are nutso for us this season and we don’t have a DVR at the moment so I’m having to be very pick and choosy and ditching everything at nine except Fringe

Also I’m making couch time for Dollhouse I’m a Whedon-head

  4. Mike says:

Big fan of Dollhouse too, and if you liked BSG or Firefly, this season is going to be a treat for you!

That will be on next week’s preview though, Dollhouse isn’t until the 25th!

  5. I had it down for this week! Damn I have to wait one more week?
