Set your DVRs: Part 2
// September 21st, 2009 // fun
This is part 2 of I don’t know how many parts in my Fall TV: Set your DVRs series. This is the big week for new/returning shows to television and so hopefully it will be helpful for those without DVRs to know when their favorite shows start up again and what new shows might be fun to watch. And if you have a DVR, then get ready to ensure all your shows are still taping and not overlapping/causing havok.
Again, as last week, the shows I’ll be watching have an (*) in front of them and I’ll do little write ups along the way.
Monday, Sept. 21
Aside from Fringe, Castle was probably my favorite new show last year. Starring Nathan Fillion as a Stephen King-like author who helps a detective solve crimes, it’s witty, funny and the chemistry between the two leads is great.
I’m also giving Heroes yet ANOTHER chance, and I don’t know why. It sucked last year. I’m just a sucker for comic books and superheroes I guess.
This night gets too busy in our house, but one day I’d love to watch How I Met Your Mother and Big Bang Theory on DVD, because I’ve heard nothing but good things about those shows.
Accidentally on Purpose, 8:30 p.m. (CBS)
The Big Bang Theory, 9:30 p.m. (CBS)

I’m going to check out two new shows on this night. The first is The Forgotten, a new show starring Christian Slater. I think they try to find out the identies of dead bodies in unsolved crimes or something like that. Sounds interesting.
The Good Wife has gotten a lot of good reviews so that’s on the list as well. Julianna Margulies from ER fame is the lead.
*The Forgotten, 10 p.m. (ABC)
*The Good Wife, 10 p.m. (CBS)
NCIS, 8 p.m. (CBS)
NCIS: Los Angeles, 9 p.m. (CBS)

I used to watch Gary Unmarried and just loved it. Jay Mohr is one of my favorites. But I stopped last year and doubt I’ll pick it up again. Modern Family looks funny though, with Shelly Long and Ed O’Neill from Married with Children.

No gossip girl for you on Monday nights?
Sunday is HBO night (Hung is a great series with Thomas Jane, True Blood – I hate most things Vampires, except for Blade movies but this is pretty good, and then Entourage) you are missing a ton)
Monday – Heroes, Castle, and of course Monday night football
Looks like I’m good till Thursday as nothing else peaks my interest, but Thursday is FlashForwad (we recorded all of the Mentalist and never saw a episode and ended up offing it and Fringe), then Friday is Smallville!!!
