This and That (and video!)
// September 28th, 2009 // family
Wow, it has been an eternity since I last posted an update on the family. I think once I finished school, it left me without an excuse to pause while writing papers and instead post blogs *grin*
At the bottom of this post you’ll find a video of Lyla making crazy voices, followed by a bunch of new pictures, most of which you can see as always in the Photos section of this blog. Find the link up top.
So what’s been going on?
Well, Lyla has been changing a lot. She took her first step last week, even though she hasn’t repeated that feat. It was still exciting to see, I’m just bummed there was no video camera around!
We’re starting to see her understand things. When the dogs get excited in the afternoon and I tell her “mommy’s home!”, she instantly looks towards the hallway and waits for her to round that corner. It’s so cute.
And she also knows what “doggies” means now. I can say “where’s the doggies Lyla?” and she’ll start looking around until she finds one. It’s so amazing.
She’s also just picking up on things we do and copying them. When I was sick a few weeks back, she starting fake “coughing” because I had been doing so much of it. Now she’s doing fake “laughs” whenever we laugh. It’s so funny.
We also think she’s saying “Mum” and meaning mommy now. Sometimes before she’d say it, but it just seemed like random baby babble. Now it feels a bit more targeted.
She’s been a bit up and down lately too. We think it’s teething, but have yet to see anything new pop out of her gums. She’s just been randomly whiny and having a runny nose.
As for Jina and I, we’ve been busy with travels, vacations and work. We also had some friends over last weekend to celebrate my graduation, which was a great time. If you come to our house for a party in the near future, you may get to taste these amazing little smokies, wrapped in bacon, sprinkled with brown sugar and cooked in the over for 20 minutes.
They were to “die” for…
My brother Jason and his wife Jennifer are expecting little Ava in just over a month and a half and the excitement is growing. Jina is throwing her a baby shower in two weeks.
As for work, it looks like my fall is going to be fairly busy. I’ll be going to Missouri next month for about 3 days for a factory acceptance test (FAT), and then from around November 30th to December 11th, I’ll be in Toronto, Canada, which is crazy. Never been to Canada, so it might be fun.
It’s still a very long time to be away from my girls, so I’m not exactly looking forward to it.
In the middle of that will be our annual trek to Jefferson, Texas to stay with Jina’s parents at their bed and breakfast, The Hale House Inn.
That’s about all I can think of right now…oh yeah, my graduation is November 7th, 10am at University of Phoenix Stadium.
Enjoy the video and pics!

Sleeping…
…and then awake!

No video on mine. Boo….
I think Lyla is going with “Mum” in honor of Tyler’s trip to England… but who knows.
I love the “awake” picture. She is so sweet and happy— I can’t wait to see her!
What really funny is I played the video and our doggie buttercup who loves people went bonkers excited that she thought someone was hear… she was looking at my monitor and turning her head left and right, it was funny!
and hi5 back to Lyla for all the hi5’s she now gives thats so adorable…
