The walking is soooooo close
// October 3rd, 2009 // family
I don’t have video yet, but we’ll try to capture it tomorrow (Sunday) whenever she gets brave enough to try again.
The three of us went to the San Tan Mall today for some various shopping and errands that needed to be done. Jina also wanted to find some shoes for Lyla, so while she was in the kiddie stores, Lyla and I hung outside at the kids play area. She was a bit too small to go crawling around with the bigger kids, so we sat back and watched. She loves seeing other kids play.

But after awhile, I let her stand around and kind of move about. We’ve been trying to walk with her more, holding her hands of course, just to get her used to it. So this time, I led her around for awhile, and went with only holding onto one of her hands, and barely doing it at that.
She did great, but it wasn’t until this evening that we realized the practice was paying off.
Suddenly we look over and she had left her standing position at the couch and had taken 4-6 steps towards someplace else. Right in the middle of the floor!
She did it a few more times and I was just cursing myself for not having the video camera sitting by me *grin*
It’s more of a sideways little shuffle right now, but it was seriously impressive. I’m just so proud of that little girl.
We’ll try to post some video soon.

Isn’t it great when they make those first steps? We didn’t do a lot of finger holding with the Peanut, she wasn’t interested and wanted to cruise by herself. One day at a story time she stood up in the middle of circle and took off running, she’s never stopped. it’ll be the same for Lyla and you’ll be wishing she was still immobile because you’d know where she is.
