Well there you have it…the finish for the finale ended up exactly like it started, even if all the teams caught up on the flight to Las Vegas.

Let’s talk about Brian and Ericka first, since they didn’t matter much on this leg (although it didn’t start that way). My very smart wife said a week or two ago that Brian is the most patient man on earth, or at least the history of The Amazing Race. He’s been kind, nice to everyone and never seems to get upset when Ericka completely loses it.

Which she did tonight. That bungee jump really messed her up. She was yelling at everyone, and while Brian actually looked like he might crack under the pressure of being so patient, he somehow held on. Her temper is pretty amazing…I wonder if she’s the one who really wears the pants in that relationship?

But like I said last week…while they caught up to the other teams because of the flight and even had the lead for a bit, they just aren’t as good as the other two teams.

And Meghan and Cheyne might be one of the best ever. They had SIX first place finishes, including the final leg in which they won a million dollars.

That is pretty remarkable. Plus this leg almost turned disastrous when it took them forever to figure out the casino was The Monte Carlo. AND they had to overcome Cheyne being dog-slow coming down the Mandalay Bay without opening his eyes.

Yet they were still faster than everyone else. They counted out a million chips without making a mistake and that won them the race.

I did love the final challenge this year being a poker related one. You end up in Vegas, it was only fitting you have to count out a million dollars worth of poker chips. Probably very easy to mess that up.

Sam and Dan, while they ran a fantastic race as well, just couldn’t overcome their bickering. Sure, they love each other afterwards, but all the fighting and arguing HAS to slow them down on these challenges.

Also, how embarassing to get to Wayne Newton and not know who he is???

Another great season for The Amazing  Race…can’t wait for next year!

FINAL STANDINGS!!

So here are the final standings of the contest. Congrats to Dave, he slaughtered the competition basically, even though Adrian could have won it if Brian and Ericka finished first.

Next season we’ll do a few more things I believe. You’ll get bonus points for any team that stays alive because of a Non-Elimation leg. You’ll also get points for doing a Fast Forward. I may think of other things, but we’ll see what happens.
