Amazing Race: Finale Recap and Contest Winner!

Even though I thought it might happen, never did I think that Carol and (especially) Brandy would still be so upset over a silly U-Turn that they would turn into raving…uhhh…wenches at the finish line.

But wow, did Caite win that little battle with Brandy…way to go!

Yes, Brent and Caite were disfunctional and Caite was a little TOO concerned about proving her intelligence, but Carol and Brandy really made me want to pull for the former Miss America contestant and her boyfriend. No one should be judged for the rest of her life based off one silly answer at a beauty pageant.

Dan and Jordan..congrats to them…they pull off a pretty lame move to step in front of the Cowboys at the airport, which really didn’t end up meaning much. The move to first class though was genius. I thought that would be a penalty, but I guess it’s only BUYING a first class ticket that is illegal.

Now, maybe they were jerks for cutting in line, but you know…if I were the Cowboys, I would have just squeezed in front of him and then see what happened. They kind of just let Jordan stand there and did nothing about it. This is a race for a million dollars…come on.

That move to first class and thus off the airplane before the other teams won the race for Dan and Jordan. And by the end, I was pretty happy for them, especially Jordan who just really wanted to win the Amazing Race. Kind of cool for his brother to do this just to help him win and they end up finishing first. Good for them.

Still can’t get over Carol and Brandy though…never have I seen a team so bitter and angry…and I can’t remember a single time where the finish line had so much drama. I think those two must have just been so upset over Caite taking it to them like that…they couldn’t handle it.

So now…on to the final standings of our contest and the person who wins the $10 iTunes gift card!

The Contest: Final Standings

Well, Tracy pretty much killed everyone…but on a personal (and selfish note), I’m proud of me and Melissa making a comeback at the end as we pretty much were in the lower half of the standings the entire season.

But Tracy owned this thing from about 3 weeks ago. She had the Cowboys and the winners Dan and Jordan, so that sealed it.

    Great contest Mike! Fun to participate! Here are some of my thoughts for changing it up:

    Take out the penalty for yeilding/ u-turning. Sometimes people just deserve it and it’s part of the game.

    Weight the scoring more on how far the teams go who people pick instead of on how many legs they win. We’re trying to pick the 3 teams that will be there until the end so someone who has all three of their teams in the final three should get mega points. It could conceivably happen that a team like the cowboys, who won a large majority of the legs comes in 4th, for instance, and the person who picked them could win even though they didn’t make it to the top 3. Just a thought.

    Last thought — the prize. Should be something more like….oh, just off the top of my head…..a million dollars. Let’s ramp this thing up a notch :) .

    Whoo hoo! And to think, I almost dropped the Cowboys after that first episode where they looked like they couldn’t find their way out of a hole. I was hoping the Cowboys would win because their game was just awesome – no fighting and one leg going from worst to first with the extra challenge in there.
    Dan and Jordan were jerks for the stunt they pulled cutting in line at the airport, and I can’t believe it didn’t come back to bite them.
    Thank goodness Brent and Caite didn’t win! They were SO annoying! But, the biggest jerks were Carol and Brandy – get over it!

    Thoughts for next season: Keep posting the Teams picked by each of us – then we can size up our competition. :)
    No penalty points for U-turning someone, but maybe penalty points for getting U-turned – they should have gotten there quicker. Then, if they survive and avoid elimination – extra points.
    Worst to first = extra points, first to second to last = penalty points.
    I could probably keep going, but I am not the one who has to tally the points. :)
    Fun season! When does the next one start? I still say this is the only “reality show” I’d ever want to go on – love it!

    PS – Kory and I stayed at that hotel w/ the Tonga room and they had good drinks! :) When the band on that floating stage in the water goes on break, it starts to rain in there and the stage is drawn out of the water.
    PSS – Gina – that was when we were there for an Elk Exec. Council trip. ;)

    Awesome suggestions all around guys. Appreciate the feedback. Although MJ…I may need some donations for that $1 million prize :)

    I do like the idea of weighting things…the longer teams stick around, maybe the more points they get for being there, I dunno.

    I also like the idea of getting a bonus point if you have the top 3 teams on a leg. That’s not bad.

    STILL BUMMED THAT THE COWBOYS DID NOT WIN. THE BROTHERS CUT IN LINE AT THE AIRPORT I WONDER IF THE RESULTS WOULD HAVE TURNED OUT DIFFERENTLY?
