No, I’m not talking about turning a junk room into a baby’s room just so our forthcoming baby girl will have a place to live once she’s part of the rest of us breathing real air.
Although that was all important and a very long process.
What I am talking about is the financial side of the equation. Ever since we found out we’re pregnant, the idea of being able to make ends meet was the first thing on my mind. It consumed me and became something I couldn’t stop focusing on for a good while.
That was until months later I realized how God was taking care of us and I let it all go. But before that (and somewhat after), we’ve been doing everything we could to cut expense.

With only two weeks to go, the waiting is starting to get dreary. Almost feels like it’s never going to happen. In fact, when I try to imagine scenarios such as Jina walking into the room saying she’s in labor, it seems so far away.
Maybe it’s because this has never happened to us before, so even the idea of imagining what it will be like is impossible to do.

Okay, so I may have built this up too much, but I’m proud of it. You’ll still get a good laugh at how small of a project this was (especially when you see it finished), but it does add a nice touch and it sure let me put in a bit of my own creativity into Lyla’s room.

This past week we finally came to within a hair’s breadth of being done with Lyla’s room. Jina finished hanging the art where she wanted it, organized the shelves a bit for now and hung the new sign on the door.
The only thing that really is left is to finish off the sign. You’ll see it in the pictures below, but Jina said it was lacking something, I came up with an idea and turned it into my tiny little art project for the weekend.
You’ll see it completed in a day or two. It’s totally not a big deal, but I’m proud of it.
Enjoy the pictures!

I’ve been battling the flu or something this week, so I haven’t posted too much, but I wanted to pass on a quick Lyla update from Jina’s trip to the O.B. on Tuesday.
Remember last Thursday she was a centimeter dilated and 50% efaced and the doc said “a few weeks” probably. Well Tuesday she was 2 centimeters AND 70% efaced already.
This time, the doctor said “soon.”
So who knows what that means, but it seems like things are progressing towards an early delivery, but who the heck really knows right?

Tuesday marks Week 37, meaning we’re technically only around three weeks away from the due date. But since my last post kind of pointed out the fact that Jina feels it’s coming much sooner, we’re expecting Lyla much sooner.
This weekend was an incredibly busy one for me as far as work goes. We have a big project that will have a big final test this coming week, so there was a ton of clean up stuff for me to do, which kept me busy.

Okay, so Jina has been having this pain in her lower back which has really been bothering her more and more the past week. She was again up until 2:30am last night because of it and was really tired today.
But she went to visit her OB again because they told her to come in after hearing about the stuff going on last night and getting the results of a previous test.
Turns out there is no UTI, so that’s good news, but they are thinking Lyla may be causing problems with her sciatic nerve which could be the root of the pain.

A long time ago when this whole “pregnancy” thing started, I posted updates on how big Lyla was at that given time. A grape, a prune, a lime, a lemon, etc.
Today she’s at Week 36 and is the size of a watermelon. It’s hard to believe something that big could fit inside a person. But when I look at my beautiful wife, it doesn’t seem so impossible. I think she’s ready to pop!
And I have to say, she looks amazing. If you took away that cute belly of hers, you couldn’t even tell she’s pregnant. She really has gained all the weight in the right places.

November arrived on Saturday and it could be the most life-changing month in our lives thus far. I firmly believe Lyla will be coming into this world sometime in November. Perhaps earlier than the 30th.
I obviously have nothing tangible to base it on, but my gut tells me she’ll be early.

This post is a bit late in the week, but I’ve been a busy worker for the last few days. I’m helping install a new HMI system out at this wastewater treatment plant only five miles down the road in Gilbert, and while I’m out there all day, internet access is nowhere to be found.
Week 34 arrived on Tuesday, which means (according to Jina’s handy-dandy guide) that we have only 42 days left to go!
There isn’t a whole lot to report this week. Jina goes back to the doctor either next week or the week after (she’s asleep so I can’t ask her *grin*), so we’ll find out any news then.

Alright, we’re just over a month away from the “official” due date, which used to be December 4th, but is now allegedly November 30th. The big issue is that we did In Vitro, which throws these doctor’s completely for a loop, a fact that amazes me. I think the month delay when we had to freeze the embryos is what the problem is, but no matter what, we know it’s “somewhere” around the end of November.
In order to make this all more fun, we’re throwing a little contest to predict the birth date of Lyla. Our friend Nicky did the same thing on her blog earlier this year and thus the idea was planted in my own head to do someday.
